Freight Shipping Policy
Freight Shipping Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
Ride-on mowers and storage sheds are too large and too heavy for a standard parcel carrier, so they travel by LTL (less-than-truckload) freight on a pallet. Freight delivery works differently from a package left at your door, and this page explains what to expect so nothing catches you off guard on delivery day.
Which Items Ship by Freight
- Ride-on mowers and lawn tractors
- Storage sheds and shed kits
- Any single item over 150 lb or with a carton longer than 96 inches
Walk-behind mowers and pressure washers normally ship by ground parcel carrier and are covered by our Shipping Policy.
Freight Delivery Timeline
| Stage | Timeframe |
|---|---|
| Order cut-off | 2:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday to Friday |
| Palletizing and dispatch | 1 business day |
| Freight transit | 2 to 4 business days |
| Appointment scheduling call | Made by the terminal once your shipment arrives locally |
| Total estimated delivery | 3 to 5 business days |
The Appointment Call
When your pallet reaches the destination terminal, the carrier calls the phone number on your order to arrange a delivery window, usually a 4-hour slot on a weekday. Please give a phone number you actually answer. If the carrier cannot reach you within 3 business days, the shipment may be returned to us as refused and storage or return freight charges will apply.
What Curbside Delivery Includes
Freight shipments are delivered curbside with liftgate service included at no charge. The driver lowers the pallet from the truck to the ground at the end of your driveway or at the kerb.
- The driver is not required to move the pallet up a driveway, into a garage, through a gate, or into a back yard.
- The driver will not unpack, uncrate, assemble or install the equipment.
- The driver will not remove the pallet, crate or packaging.
A ride-on mower crate can weigh 400 to 700 lb and a shed kit pallet can weigh 300 to 900 lb. Have two adults, and ideally an appliance dolly or pallet jack, available to move it once it is on the ground.
Access Requirements
A 53-foot tractor-trailer needs room to reach and turn. Tell us before you order if any of the following apply, so we can arrange a smaller straight truck where possible:
- Narrow, unpaved, steep or dead-end roads
- Low bridges, tight turns, gated communities or weight-restricted streets
- Apartment complexes, high-rise buildings or addresses without kerbside access
If the truck arrives and cannot access the address, the shipment is returned to the terminal and redelivery or terminal pickup fees apply. These fees are charged to the customer.
Inspect Before You Sign
This is the single most important step in a freight delivery. Once you sign a clean delivery receipt, the carrier’s liability for visible damage ends and a damage claim becomes very difficult to win.
- Walk around the pallet before the driver leaves. Check for crushed corners, punctures, tyre marks, torn shrink wrap, broken banding, leaking fluid or a shifted load.
- Photograph the pallet on the truck or on the ground, from all four sides, before opening anything.
- If you see any damage, however minor, write a description on the delivery receipt or bill of lading before signing. For example: “Carton crushed on left side, deck damaged”. Do not accept a driver’s suggestion to sign first and sort it out later.
- If the damage is severe, you may refuse the shipment outright. Write “Refused – damaged in transit” on the receipt and call us the same day.
- Email info@peaulon.com within 24 hours with your order number, photos and a picture of the annotated delivery receipt.
Concealed damage found after unpacking must be reported within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the item, the packaging and the pallet. Keep all packaging until the claim is resolved.
Damaged Freight Procedure
Once we have your photos and annotated receipt, we file the carrier claim ourselves. You do not deal with the freight company. Within 2 business days of receiving your report we will confirm one of the following at no cost to you: a replacement unit shipped free, a free replacement part where the damage is limited to one component, or a full refund including all freight charges.
Missed Appointments, Storage and Redelivery
- Missed appointment: most carriers allow one free reschedule. Later attempts are billed at the carrier’s redelivery rate and charged to the customer.
- Storage fees: terminals hold freight free for a limited period, typically 2 to 5 business days, then charge daily storage.
- Refused without cause: a shipment refused for any reason other than transit damage is processed as a return. Outbound freight, return freight and the restocking fee are deducted from your refund, as set out in the Refund & Return Policy.
Returning a Freight Item
Freight returns cannot be dropped at a shipping store. Contact us first and we will arrange a pickup and send you a bill of lading. The item must be back on its original pallet, in the original crate or carton, drained of all fuel and oil, and ready for a liftgate pickup at the kerb. Return freight cost and the restocking fee are deducted from the refund on non-defective returns.
